To facilitate your learning journey, we employ a diverse range of teaching methods tailored to accommodate different learning styles and preferences. These methods include lectures, tutorials, small group seminars, virtual learning environment activities, and guided private studies. At LOC, we prioritize the application of theoretical knowledge to real-world business challenges. To achieve this, we integrate guest lectures from industry professionals and incorporate real industry-sponsored business problems into our assessments. This approach ensures that the material taught remains relevant and applicable to the dynamic business landscape. Typically, you can expect to engage with one video lecture and participate in one online tutorial per week for each module. These sessions provide opportunities for direct interaction with our experienced teaching staff, fostering a supportive learning environment. Throughout the program, your progress will be continually monitored through various forms of formative assessment and feedback mechanisms. These assessments are designed to assist you in advancing your studies and nurturing your ongoing development, ensuring a comprehensive and enriching learning experience.

Our Foundation Year program diverges from traditional degree courses by offering a departure from conventional exams and dissertations. You won’t find yourself spending summers at home buried in dissertation work or cramming for exams. Instead, our assessments are meticulously designed to immerse you in real-world scenarios, ensuring that the skills you acquire are directly transferable to your professional endeavors post-graduation. Throughout your course modules, you’ll encounter a diverse array of assessment methods, each crafted to facilitate practical application of your learning. These may include individual reports, case study analyses, group presentations, and personal independent assignments, tailored in consultation with your course module leader.

Emphasizing personal discovery, digital technology, and the practical application of theory in real-world business settings, our assessments foster innovative thinking and management practice. We encourage you to embrace innovation in completing your assignments. Whether it’s crafting videos, infographics, consultancy reports, campaigns, posters, conducting interviews, or engaging in debate sessions, the possibilities are limitless. This approach not only cultivates skills essential for success in the real world but also makes the learning process fun and engaging, allowing you to showcase your knowledge and development effectively.

Our student body boasts a diverse age range, encompassing individuals who have recently completed A-levels (or equivalent) to more seasoned, mature students. At our institution, we firmly believe that age should never hinder one’s pursuit of knowledge, and as such, we wholeheartedly welcome applications from all qualified individuals, regardless of age.

For non-native English speakers, we have established undergraduate English language standards to ensure academic success and seamless integration into our learning community. If English is not your primary language and your proficiency falls below our minimum requirements of IELTS 6.0, we encourage you to explore our Pre-sessional English Language Foundation Programmes. Here are the English language proficiency standards we accept:

  • IELTS: An overall score of 6.0 with no individual component scoring below 5.5.
  • PTE Academic: An overall score of 58, with each individual component achieving a minimum score of 51.
  • TOEFL IBT: An overall score of 80. Please note that TOEFL scores are not accepted from applicants requiring a Student Visa, as this qualification is no longer recognized by the UK Visas and Immigration Department (UKVI).
  • A-level/GCSE/IGCSE English: A grade of C/4 or above. For IGCSE certificates, please provide the Supplementary Certifying Statement detailing component grades.
  • International Baccalaureate: A grade of 4 or above in English at Higher or Standard Level.
We believe that proficiency in English is crucial for academic excellence and effective communication within our global community. Thus, we encourage prospective students to fulfill the necessary language requirements to maximize their educational experience at our institution.
